Jaroslav Ježek Bugatti Step Music Book

The author of the Bugatti step piano foxtrot Jaroslav Ježek (born 1906, died in 1942 in New York) is best known as a pioneer of popular jazz music. He is the author of music for most of Jiří Voskovec's and Jan Werich's plays in the most famous era of the important Prague avant-garde stage, the Liberated Theater, in the years 1925 - 1938. modern (Paul Hindemith, Ervín Schulhoff, etc.), who in the 1920s and 1930s sought to incorporate jazz elements into classical music.

Bugatti Step, which was created in 1931 as a prelude to the play Don Juan & comp., Stands on the border of these two musical areas due to its dance character and immense virtuosity. It is worth mentioning his name, which Ježek - a great sports enthusiast - gave him in honor of the victory of the French car racer Louis Chiron with a Bugatti vehicle in the Masaryk Circuit race in Brno. Rhythmic pulse reminiscent of a four-stroke engine, which permeates the entire composition exhibited at the fourth interval, also points to Ježek's fascination with the technique.
