The AWM2 sound engine, found only in Yamaha music synthesizers, offers much more than just sample playback. Seamless Sound Switching (SSS) allows you to change settings seamlessly without interrupting the envelope or effects. This is ideal for live performances where you end one song and start another without interruption.

MODX is packed with DSP innovations, performance and especially sound quality - from high-resolution reverbs to incredibly detailed VCM (Virtual Circuit Modeling) effects. Use effects like Beat Repeat, Vinyl Break or Bit Crusher to get an EDM sound. The Spiralizer effect creates the sonic illusion of a note constantly rising or falling in pitch without being higher or lower.

You can even add a compressor with a sidechain for a modern "ducking" effect. Or you can go retro with vintage effects like Analog Delay, VCM Phaser or various amp simulators. Automatically control the dynamic behavior of one part from another. Sidechaining is very popular in modern dance music, where a pad or other sustain part is connected to a kick. When the kick is played, the sustained part is lowered and creates a "pumping" rhythmic effect.

Super Knob enables simultaneous control of up to 128 parameters within one performance. This means you can control almost anything from mix functions such as volume, pan and effects sends, to detailed synthesizer parameters such as filters, LFOs and Operators.
The Super Knob can even be assigned to a second FC7 foot controller, making it easy to manipulate the sound when playing with both hands.

Motion Sequences are tempo-synchronized, fully customizable control sequences that can be assigned to virtually any synth parameter, providing incredible new ways to create sound.

The Envelope Follower turns audio into a control source for controlling virtually any synthesizer parameter. For example, a drum loop can control effects parameters for a great beat, or a vocal recording can control multiple parameters for a "talking" synthesizer. The audio can even be a "live" source via the A/D input.

The ABS (Audio Beat Sync) function detects the beat of an external device such as an electronic drum kit, drum machine or audio player connected to the A/D input and synchronizes the MODX Arpeggiator, Motion Sequencer or songs to the tempo of the external input. The MODX synthesizer "listens" to live music and plays in real time.
