Thanks to the safety class I (three-pin socket), despite the presence of a switched source, the device is absolutely free of any disturbing hum, even on the analog input. The internal CD drive is a slot-type computer drive, and compared to old CD recorders it is also noisy - and as a professional CD recorder should be, it works not only with CD-R MUSIC, but of course also with regular computer CD-R/RW discs. The headphone amplifier is very good and clean, the regulation is linear - as it used to be with quality devices twenty+ years ago - only the headphone volume controls and the input analog level seem cheap. The CD recording is flawless so far, but the device is new. The overall impression is actually very good compared to similar products today, only when looking back at the same segment from twenty+ years ago (e.g. Fostex CR300) it seems a bit like a dummy (completely plastic front panel, TASCAM logo only printed on plastic, etc.), but that is the current state of all electronics. However, it does what it is supposed to do very well so far, so I am satisfied.
