Roland Digital Pianos

On this page you'll find Roland digital pianos for the home: instruments with a cabinet and their own stand, designed to replace an acoustic upright piano in your living space. The range runs from the compact RP107 and F107 through RP701, F701, DP603, HP 702 and HP 704 to the tall cabinets of LX-5, LX-6 and LX-9 and the designer Kiyola pianos. All have 88 hammer-action keys, Bluetooth for music from your phone and apps, and a headphone output, so you can practise even late at night. Several models also come as a SET with a bench and headphones.

How do the PHA-4 Standard, PHA-50 and Hybrid Grand keyboards differ?

The keyboard determines how a piano feels to play, and it's an easy way to distinguish between Roland's ranges. PHA-4 Standard in the RP107, F107, RP701, F701 and HP 702 has plastic keys with a hammer action, a subtle escapement resistance when pressed slowly and an ivory-like surface that keeps sweaty fingers from slipping.

PHA-50 in the HP 704, DP603, LX-5 and Kiyola combines wooden key sides with a plastic core, giving the keys a heavier, more natural feel. Hybrid Grand in the LX-6 and LX-9 has long keys with a pivot point far back, as on a grand piano. This makes it just as easy to play at the front edge of a key as right next to the black keys. The LX-9 also produces gentle vibrations in the keys as you play, similar to an acoustic instrument.

Which cabinet suits your room?

The RP107 and RP701 have a classic upright piano shape with a sliding key cover. The F107 and F701 are shallower and form a flat surface when you close the lid, so they fit well in a smaller room or against a living room wall. The DP603 also has a slim cabinet with a flat lid, but comes with the PHA-50 keyboard and also offers glossy finishes.

The HP 702 and HP 704 are taller pianos with unlimited polyphony, so no notes are lost even when you use the pedal and play dense chords. The LX-5, LX-6 and LX-9 have tall cabinets and approach an acoustic upright piano in both shape and sound. Roland designed the Kiyola KF-10, KF-20 and KF-25 with Japanese furniture maker Karimoku, and they are made in Japan. They look like low wooden furniture, with the keyboard hidden beneath the lid.

What's included in a SET and what else do you need for your piano?

The SET editions of the RP107, F107, RP701, F701, LX-5, LX-6, LX-9 and Kiyola KF-10 include a bench and headphones alongside the piano, with a dust cover included for the LX models too. If you choose the piano on its own, you'll find Roland headphones and other accessories on the Roland Accessories for Keys page. Looking for a grand-shaped piano? Roland has them on the Roland Digital Grand Pianos page.
