Richard Lynn Carpenter, born on October 15, 1946, is an American musician and record producer best known as one half of the Carpenters, the acclaimed sibling duo he formed with his sister Karen. Renowned for his skills as a pianist, arranger, and songwriter, Richard also contributed to the group's signature sound through his work as a producer and by performing harmony vocals alongside Karen.
