A pick changes the feel of the attack, playing accuracy and the way the strings respond. Focus on thickness, material, tip shape and how securely it sits in your hand. Thinner models flex more easily, while stiffer ones give firmer contact with the string.

For accompaniment and smooth strumming, a light pick can work well. Medium picks balance flexibility and control, while heavy and extra heavy picks suit a more precise attack with less flex.

Size, surface texture and edge profile also matter. If you are unsure, compare several gauges with your own technique and choose one that stays secure without making you grip too tightly.
