Horace Parlan was an American jazz pianist and composer, recognized for his distinctive work in hard bop and post-bop styles. Celebrated both as a bandleader and a collaborator, he made significant contributions to Charles Mingus’s acclaimed albums Mingus Ah Um and Blues and Roots.
