A single-coil T-model usually has a brighter, more sparkling and more cutting character that suits clean sounds, country, blues, funk and indie rhythm playing. An HH version with two humbuckers sounds fuller and thicker, which is useful for distorted rock or more modern riffs. If you mainly play clean and crunch tones, start with single coils; if you want more gain and a heavier tone, look at HH or mixed pickup configurations.
