A modern "C"-shape at the genuine bone nut (38.1 mm), the profile morphs along the length of the neck to a modern "D"-shaped profile at the updated neck heel, providing plenty of comfortable support for fret hand antics. Posiflex graphite support rods run the length of the neck, adding stability to the neck while resisting temperature- and humidity-induced warping. The fingerboard is made of maple and offers 21 medium jumbo frets and black pearloid block inlays. The bass guitar is equipped with two Fender's fourth-generation Noiseless pickups that are exclusive to the American Elite series and combine modern noise-free performance with authentic vintage-style sound that does not sacrifice one iota of warmth. A redesigned robust 18-volt preamp cranks up the power for even more signal quality for chest-thumping tone with more headroom and reduced noise. Sound can be adjusted by various controls including Master Volume, Pan Pot (pickup selector), Treble Boost/Cut, Midrange Boost/Cut, Bass Boost/Cut and Active/Passive Mini Toggle. The 4-saddle HiMass Vintage bridge increases note attack and resonance for thunderous bass lines with mammoth punch and near-endless sustain while allowing either top-load or strings-thru-body stringing. In a vintage-inspired touch, the truss rod adjustment wheel has been moved to the butt end of the neck for easier access, making neck relief adjustments a snap. The bass guitar further features nickel/chrome hardware including Fender "F" tuning machines with light-weight vintage-paddle keys and tapered shafts, vintage style black plastic Jazz Bass control knobs, a 3-ply pickguard (black/white/black) and Fender USA NPS strings (gauges: .045-.105).
