Epiphone 1957 SJ-200 Reissue Antique Natural electro-acoustic guitar

The Gibson SJ-200™ was introduced in 1937, quickly earning the nickname "The King of the Flat-Tops" thanks to its commanding size, rich tone, powerful projection, and iconic stage presence. While early models featured rosewood backs and sides, by 1947 these were replaced with maple, which became standard.

The SJ-200 has been beloved by artists ranging from matinee cowboys to folk troubadours, country stars to rock royalty, and vintage models are now highly sought after by collectors.

Now, Epiphone, in partnership with Gibson Custom, proudly presents the 1957 SJ-200 Reissue — a faithful recreation of the majestic 1957 Super Jumbo, made more accessible for today’s players.

The Epiphone 1957 SJ-200 Reissue features all-solid wood construction, including a thermally aged solid Sitka spruce top with scalloped X-bracing, solid figured maple back and sides, and multi-ply top and back binding.

The two-piece flame maple neck includes a walnut center strip, features a comfortable C-profile, and is joined to the body with a glued-in dovetail joint. The bound Indian rosewood fretboard has 20 frets and elegant mother-of-pearl graduated Crown inlays.

The vintage-style SJ-200 pickguard features period-correct artwork, while the rosewood Moustache™ bridge includes mother-of-pearl inlays. The bone nut, compensated saddle, and bridge pins contribute to its superior tone and intonation.

The Gibson-style “open book” headstock is bound and adorned with the Epiphone logo and Gibson Crown inlay in mother-of-pearl. The Antique Natural finish version includes a back stinger, while the Vintage Sunburst version does not. On the back of the headstock is the Inspired by Gibson Custom Double Diamond engraving.

To meet the demands of today’s musicians, it includes a built-in L.R. Baggs™ Element Bronze VTC piezo pickup and active preamp with soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls — making it studio- and stage-ready right out of the box.

Each guitar ships in a premium RedLine-inspired hardshell case featuring Inspired by Gibson Custom graphics for stylish and secure transport.
