EAW MW10 Passive Stage Monitor
The Campfire Audio Andromeda MW10 is a limited-edition Japanese-exclusive in-ear monitor celebrating 10 years of partnership between Campfire Audio and Mix Wave. Built around five balanced armature drivers and the brand's first 3D-printed ceramic acoustic chamber, this IEM delivers a refined take on the legendary Andromeda sound. Only 500 units were produced, each finished in anodized Strato Blue aluminum with 24-karat gold-plated screws and an iridescent Avalon inlay logo.
- 5 balanced armature drivers (2 Low, 1 Mid, 2 High) with redesigned crossover for tighter bass and clearer mids
- First Campfire Audio IEM to use a 3D-printed ceramic acoustic chamber, reducing distortion and improving clarity
- Tuned Acoustic Expansion Chamber (T.A.E.C) technology extends high-frequency response to 28 kHz
- Sensitivity 112.8 dB SPL/mW, impedance 12.8 Ω at 1 kHz — pairs well with neutral and slightly warm sources
Campfire Audio Andromeda MW10 — A Limited-Edition Flagship IEM
The Campfire Audio Andromeda MW10 is a 500-unit limited-edition in-ear monitor released exclusively for the Japanese market through Mix Wave Co LTD in December 2019. Created to mark the 10th anniversary of the partnership between Campfire Audio and its Japanese distributor, this IEM takes the legendary Andromeda platform and pushes it further with a redesigned crossover and the brand's first 3D-printed ceramic acoustic chamber. The result is a more dynamic, midrange-focused presentation that audiophiles describe as having a tube-like bloom over the original Andromeda tuning.
Finished in Strato Blue anodized aluminum with 24-karat gold-plated screws and an angle-shifting Avalon inlay logo, the MW10 stands as one of the most visually distinctive Andromeda variants ever produced. Inside the stainless steel nozzle sit five balanced armature drivers in a 2 Low / 1 Mid / 2 High configuration, paired with the new ceramic chamber and Campfire's signature Tuned Acoustic Expansion Chamber (T.A.E.C) technology.
What Sets the MW10 Apart
The defining technical breakthrough is the 3D-printed ceramic acoustic chamber — a manufacturing first for Campfire Audio that became the new standard for the brand's reference IEMs. Combined with the redesigned crossover, this chamber delivers lower distortion and a clearer, more articulate midrange than the original Andromeda, while preserving the balanced armature timbre that fans of the brand prize.
The included Super Litz cable — borrowed from the flagship Solaris — uses double the silver-plated pure copper strands of the standard Litz wire, with beryllium copper MMCX connectors for improved contact reliability. A handcrafted blue premium leather zipper case with gold hardware, lined in wool, completes the presentation.
Technical Specifications — Driver Architecture and Tuning
The Andromeda MW10's five-driver balanced armature array is tuned for a more forward, energetic presentation than the standard Andromeda, with reviewers noting greater bass impact, more intimate vocals, and elevated treble energy. The ceramic chamber and T.A.E.C high-frequency extension push the frequency response well beyond the audible band.
- Driver Configuration: 5 balanced armatures — 2 Low, 1 Mid, 2 High
- Acoustic Chamber: 3D-printed ceramic (first used in a Campfire Audio IEM)
- High-Frequency Technology: Tuned Acoustic Expansion Chamber (T.A.E.C)
- Frequency Response: 10 Hz – 28 kHz
- Sensitivity: 112.8 dB SPL/mW
- Impedance: 12.8 Ω at 1 kHz
Who Should Consider the Andromeda MW10
The Campfire Audio Andromeda MW10 is the right choice for collectors and audiophiles who want a rare, Japan-exclusive variant of one of the most celebrated IEM lineups in portable audio. With only 500 units ever produced, this is a piece for listeners who value scarcity, craftsmanship, and a tuning that emphasizes midrange intimacy and treble excitement over absolute neutrality.
Acoustic music lovers — jazz ensembles, small vocal groups, classical and well-recorded live sets — will appreciate the dynamic, bloom-like midrange emphasis that reviewers consistently highlight. The MW10 pairs especially well with neutral or slightly warm sources; brighter amplifiers and source gear may push the elevated treble too far for some listeners.
The 10th Anniversary Collaboration Behind the MW10
The Andromeda MW10 was created to celebrate a decade-long partnership between Campfire Audio (founded by Ken Ball, originally as ALO audio in Portland, Oregon) and Mix Wave Co LTD, the brand's Japanese distributor since the early days of portable audio. Mix Wave first met Ken Ball at the Tokyo Headphone Festival in 2011, making this collaboration one of the brand's longest-standing international relationships.
Released on December 18, 2019, the MW10 was sold exclusively through Mix Wave in Japan at 185,680 yen (tax included). The model's name references the partnership itself — MW for Mix Wave, 10 for the anniversary milestone — and the Strato Blue and gold design language was chosen to evoke sky and future, a visual nod to the next chapter of the collaboration.
