Drowning Pool is an American rock band from Dallas, Texas, formed in 1996 and named after the 1975 film The Drowning Pool. Known for their energetic sound and hard-hitting tracks, the band was founded by guitarist CJ Pierce, drummer Mike Luce, and bassist Stevie Benton, who remain the core members. Their debut album, Sinner, was released in 2001 and featured original vocalist Dave Williams, whose unexpected death in 2002 marked a turning point for the group.
Over the years, Drowning Pool has been known for its changing lineup of vocalists, including Jason Jones and Ryan McCombs from SOiL, as well as Jasen Moreno, each bringing their own style to the band’s music. Despite these changes, Drowning Pool has continued to release albums such as Desensitized, Full Circle, Drowning Pool, Resilience, Hellelujah, and Strike a Nerve, building a dedicated following with their aggressive hooks and powerful live performances. Ryan McCombs rejoined the band in 2023, highlighting their enduring presence in the rock and metal scene.
