The Descendents are an influential American punk rock band from Manhattan Beach, California, originally formed in 1977 by Frank Navetta, Tony Lombardo, and Bill Stevenson. Evolving from power pop and surf punk origins, they shifted toward melodic hardcore after Milo Aukerman joined as vocalist in 1979, quickly gaining prominence in the Los Angeles hardcore scene. Best known for their energetic sound and relatable lyrics, the Descendents have released several acclaimed albums and are recognized as pioneers who helped shape modern punk.
