Creedence Clearwater Revival

Creedence Clearwater Revival

Creedence Clearwater Revival was an American rock band from El Cerrito, California, formed in 1959 by John Fogerty, Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook, and Doug Clifford. Originally performing as the Blue Velvets and later the Golliwogs, they became Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1967. The band rose to fame between 1969 and 1971, releasing a series of hit singles and albums, including Green River and Cosmo’s Factory, both of which topped the charts. CCR played at Woodstock in 1969 and became known for their distinctive swamp rock sound. The group broke up in 1972 after internal disputes and legal battles. Despite never reuniting, their music remains popular, with hits featured regularly on classic rock radio and their greatest hits album selling over 12 million copies in the United States.
