A guitar bridge holds the strings in position and allows them to be set up according to the instrument's construction. Choose a bridge for an electric, acoustic or bass guitar first, then verify the specific mounting type. String spacing, mounting-point spacing, component dimensions and adjustment range all matter.

Fixed bridge or tremolo

• Fixed bridge: its construction is simpler, but the spacing and mounting must still match.
• Tremolo: besides the dimensions, check the mounting system, block and compatibility with the existing holes.
• Acoustic guitar: verify the shape and dimensions of the saddle or bridge pins against the original arrangement.

After installation, check the string height and intonation; work that alters the body is safer in the hands of a qualified technician.
