The Berlin Philharmonic is one of the world’s most renowned orchestras, based in Berlin, Germany. Known for its exceptional musicianship and distinctive sound, the orchestra gained global acclaim under legendary conductors such as Wilhelm Furtwängler, Herbert von Karajan, and Claudio Abbado. Traditionally celebrated for its interpretations of the Austro-German repertoire, the orchestra later expanded its focus to include a broader range of classical and modern works.
Famous for its award-winning recordings, especially with the Deutsche Grammophon label, the Berlin Philharmonic has long set international standards in symphonic music. In the 21st century, it has pioneered new ways of reaching audiences, launching the Digital Concert Hall and its own recording label. Since 2019, Kirill Petrenko has been leading the orchestra, which currently performs at its iconic home, the Berliner Philharmonie.
