Gyratec X by Antelope Audio is a stereo vari-mu tube compressor plugin developed in collaboration with Gyraf Audio. Based on variable-mu compression technology — the same principle used in legendary early limiters — this plugin delivers fast, musical gain reduction with rich tube character, making it suitable for bus compression, mastering, and creative dynamics processing.

Vari-Mu Compression Technology

Gyratec X employs variable-mu compression, which controls gain by altering quiescent current in differential tube pairs. This method is significantly faster than optical compression, enabling rapid transient control while maintaining a smooth, musical character throughout the compression curve.

Rich Tube Sound

The more Gyratec X is pushed, the more its all-tube vintage colour shines, particularly in the low end. With clean, organic midrange and an open high end, this compressor tames transients and peaks beautifully while warming up the entire frequency spectrum with authentic tube harmonics.

Smooth High-Pass Sidechain

Thanks to its smooth high-pass filtering, Gyratec X allows for assertive compression of the low end without dirtying the overall sound. It pairs well with other compressor types and vintage audio tools. Available in AAX, VST3, and AU formats for macOS and Windows.
