Universal Audio UAD Capitol Studios (Digital product)

Capitol Studios A and B in Your DAW

UAD Capitol Studios brings Hollywood's Capitol Studios A and B into a single plug-in, the rooms where records from Frank Sinatra to Frank Ocean were made. Reverb mode keeps the original recording and adds Capitol's ambience, while Re-Mic mode replaces the room and mic sound entirely. It runs natively on Apple silicon and Intel Macs as well as Windows PCs, with no Apollo or UAD-2 hardware required.

Mics, Rooms, Chambers, and Consoles

Sources run through classics from Capitol's mic locker, including the U48 Frank Sinatra sang into, plus the C12, U67, and M50, with setups curated by Capitol alum Steve Genewick. Dynamic Room Modeling lets you drag mics around the room and hear the space respond in real time. Decca Tree setups capture strings, horns, and choirs with a wide stereo image. Echo chambers 1, 3, 5, and 8 beneath Capitol Tower are available in a plug-in for the first time, and tracks can be mixed through each studio's console EQ and dynamics, 1176LN and LA-2A compression, and the Capitol Mastering Compressor.

Who Should Use UAD Capitol Studios

UAD Capitol Studios is the right choice for producers and home studio owners who want dry or boxy recordings of vocals, drums, or ensembles to sound like they were cut in a world-class studio. It also works on virtual instruments such as sampled strings and pianos, and presets from Capitol engineers and producers give a fast starting point.
