Resonant Drum Heads

Resonant drum heads are the bottom heads of a drum and have a major effect on decay, sustain, and the overall openness of the tone. Even though you do not play them directly, their tension and condition determine whether the drum sounds lively, controlled, or too muted. Choose them according to the drum size, the sensitivity you expect, and how they should work together with the batter head.
