Marina Lambrini Diamandis, professionally known as MARINA and formerly Marina and the Diamonds, is a Welsh singer, songwriter, poet, and record producer. Born in Brynmawr and raised near Abergavenny, she moved to London to pursue music with little formal training. Marina rose to fame after finishing second in BBC's Sound of 2010. Her debut album, The Family Jewels, blended indie pop and new wave, earning gold certification and charting in the UK top five. With her follow-up album Electra Heart, featuring the hit singles Primadonna and How to Be a Heartbreaker, she reached number one in the UK and earned gold status in both the UK and US. Her later albums, including Froot, Love and Fear, and Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land, continued her success in both the UK and US charts. Marina's sixth album, Princess of Power, arrived in June 2025 and was preceded by the singles Butterfly, Cupid's Girl, and Cuntissimo. She is known for her distinctive blend of pop styles, conceptual albums, and thought-provoking lyrics.
