Kian Soltani is an Austrian-Iranian cellist, born in 1992 in Bregenz to a family of Iranian musicians. Recognized for his expressive playing, he rose to prominence as principal cellist of Daniel Barenboim's West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, notably performing Beethoven’s Triple Concerto during the 2015 tour. Soltani began cello at age four, later studying with Ivan Monighetti at Basel Music Academy and continuing his training at the Kronberg Academy in Germany and the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein. He has also served as artist in residence at the Residentie Orchestra in The Hague for the 2018-2019 season.
