The player allows you to play without the need for external software. It is equipped with a large 4.3" display and an 8" touch-sensitive Jog platter operating in Slip, Reverse Play, Vinyl and Stutter Cue modes. The control panel also includes 4 Cue buttons, a loop section, common controls for song selection and playback, a Pitch slider and a USB-A port for playing WAV, MP3, AAC and AIFF formats from external storage. On the rear panel there is a line main output (2x Cinch) and a USB-B port for connecting to a computer.

Installing the Gemini V-Case Library Management software will allow for quick and easy management of music libraries. The MDJ-500 can be used as a 24-bit/192 kHz sound card for playing audio from a computer, while in MIDI mode it serves as a controller for controlling parameters and controls of DJ software.
