Cajon Accessories

Cajon accessories include seat pads, cases, pedals, brushes and other additions to suit the instrument type. Each accessory addresses a different need: comfort during longer sitting, safe transport or expanded sound options. Measure the cajon and check the attachment method before choosing. A universal label does not necessarily mean an accessory will fit every body.

Comfort and instrument protection

A non-slip seat pad reduces movement while you play. A padded case protects the edges and playing surface during transport, while the straps and handles must support the instrument's weight. Store the cajon in a dry environment.

Accessories that change your technique

• brushes create a gentler or more scratch-like character;
• a pedal lets you play a bass stroke with your foot and frees your hands;
• additional percussion expands the rhythmic colours;
• damping elements change the sustain, so use them in moderation;
• a microphone mount must remain outside the striking areas.

Pedal and attachment without damaging the body

With a mechanical pedal, check where it clamps and whether the pressure could damage the cajon edge. The cable or drive should move freely without rubbing against the wood. After installation, try light strikes first and only then fine-tune the beater position.

Accessories according to cajon size

First check the height, width and depth of the body. A case should leave room for the handle and zip but must not be so loose that the instrument knocks around as you walk. If you are looking for a smaller portable percussion instrument with two playing surfaces, see bongo cajons.

Choose cajon accessories for a specific purpose: a cajon case protects the instrument, a seat pad improves comfort and sound accessories change the playing technique. One universal accessory cannot replace all these functions.
