Audio-Technica ATM355VF Instrument Condenser Microphone

Designed specifically for violin and fiddle, the ATM355VF is a miniature cardioid condenser that mounts unobtrusively to the instrument using a tailored clip system, capturing the bright, nuanced tone of bowed strings with minimal visual impact on stage. Its low-profile mounting keeps the capsule close to the instrument body, providing consistent pickup that tracks performer movement naturally during live performance and recording.

Violin-Specific Mounting

The ATM355VF ships with a dedicated violin mount that clips securely to the instrument's chinrest or tailpiece area without damaging the finish. The flexible gooseneck positions the capsule precisely at the optimal distance from the f-holes or strings, delivering balanced amplification of the violin's full tonal range.

Miniature Capsule and Sensitivity

The miniature capsule element is voiced for the presence and brightness of string instruments, with a frequency response extending to 20 kHz. High sensitivity ensures that even soft bowing techniques and harmonics are captured accurately, making the ATM355VF suitable for both classical and folk violin amplification.

TA3F Output and Compatibility

The TA3F mini XLR output is compatible with Audio-Technica's wireless bodypack transmitters and the AT8537 inline preamp for wired use. This dual compatibility makes the ATM355VF equally useful in wireless stage setups and wired studio or live recording applications.

Polar Pattern

Polar Pattern: Cardioid

The cardioid directional microphone is designed to be most sensitive to sounds coming directly from the front and less sensitive to sounds coming from the sides and back. This directional pattern resembles the shape of a heart (hence the name "cardioid") and is ideal for situations where it is necessary to focus on a single sound source and minimize ambient noise.

Frequency Range

Frequency Range: 40 Hz - 20 kHz

The frequency response 40 Hz - 20 kHz provides a wide enough range to capture all the fine musical and sonic details.
