Audio-Technica AT4050ST Studio Condenser Microphone

The AT4050ST is a dual large-diaphragm condenser designed for simultaneous A/B or M-S stereo recording from a single microphone body. Two cardioid capsules arranged at 90° deliver a precise, three-dimensional stereo image with the transparent sonic character of Audio-Technica's 4050 series. Transformerless circuitry ensures low noise and extended dynamic range suitable for critical studio applications.

Dual Capsule Design

The AT4050ST houses two cardioid capsule elements positioned for true X/Y stereo pickup. This fixed arrangement eliminates phase inconsistencies common with two separate microphones and ensures a coherent stereo field from a single mounting point.

Pad and Filter Options

A switchable 10 dB pad handles high-SPL sources such as drum overheads or brass instruments without overloading the capsule. The switchable high-pass filter at 80 Hz reduces low-frequency rumble and stand vibration for cleaner recordings in live and studio environments.

Transformerless Circuit

The transformerless output stage provides wide frequency response from 20 Hz to 18 kHz and maintains accuracy across the full dynamic range. A/D conversion is clean and phase-coherent, making the AT4050ST a reliable choice for acoustic instruments, choirs, and ambient recording.
