Glass Paints

Glass paints create a decorative layer on a smooth, non-porous surface. A transparent shade uses transmitted light, an opaque one covers the support, and an outline keeps the boundaries of the design in place. Adhesion depends on the cleanliness of the glass and the fixing method. Therefore, choose the product according to the item, application method, and permitted care.

Transparent painting works with light

A vase, window, or candle holder allows light to shine through the paint. Mix shades on a test piece of glass because the color looks different in front of a light and on a dark table. Opaque paint is suitable for lettering and bold ornaments. An outline must dry before you pour or apply another layer between its boundaries.

  • Transparent paint: a light effect and visible support.
  • Opaque paint: bold areas and lettering.
  • Outline: separation of areas before coloring.

A grease-free surface

  1. Wash and degrease the glass without leaving cleaner residue.
  2. Let it dry completely and do not touch the design area.
  3. Apply the paint in thinner layers without bubbles.
  4. Add the next coat only after the time specified by the manufacturer.

Fixing and food contact

Heat-based or timed procedures vary according to the paint. Follow the temperature, duration, and cooling instructions on the packaging. Keep painted areas away from drinking rims and food surfaces unless the manufacturer explicitly permits such contact. Adapt washing to the declared durability.
