Christopher Lee Rios, known as Big Pun, was an influential American rapper from the Bronx. Rising from the underground hip hop scene, he was discovered by Fat Joe and featured on Fat Joe's 1995 album, Jealous One's Envy. Big Pun signed with Terror Squad Productions and Loud Records, releasing his debut album, Capital Punishment, in 1998. The album was critically acclaimed, became the first platinum-certified hip hop record by a Latino solo artist, and was nominated for a Grammy. His follow-up album, Yeeeah Baby, reached number three on the Billboard 200 but was released shortly after his untimely death in 2000.
