Developed in close collaboration with legendary drummer Steve Gadd, the Recording Custom RRS1365 is a 13" × 6.5" brass snare drum representing the finest in Yamaha's metal snare lineup. Its 1.2 mm brass shell, outward center bead, and 20-strand snare wire deliver a bright, open, and crisply articulate tone with exceptional character across all tuning ranges.

1.2 mm Brass Shell

The thin 1.2 mm brass shell produces a bright, resonant tone with strong projection and lively attack, characteristic of the finest brass snare drums in professional use. The smaller 13" diameter combined with the 6.5" depth gives this model a uniquely focused and cutting character.

Outward Center Bead

Unlike conventional snare drums where the center bead sits on the inside of the shell, this model positions it on the exterior, producing a more open sound with greater clarity and articulation. This design was refined through extensive evaluations with Steve Gadd.

2.3 mm Dyna Hoop

The 2.3 mm Dyna Hoop provides a precise, focused attack and controlled overtone response, complementing the natural brightness and projection of the brass shell.

Q-Type Strainer

The heavy-duty Q-type strainer offers robust, stable, and smooth operation, making snare adjustment and wire replacement quick and reliable even under demanding stage conditions.
