Stormzy, born Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. in 1993, is an English-Ghanaian rapper, singer, and songwriter who rose to fame with his Wicked Skengman freestyles on the UK grime scene. His breakthrough came with the track "Shut Up," which gained massive popularity and reached the UK top ten. He won Best Grime Act at the MOBO Awards in 2014 and 2015, and was recognized in the BBC Sound of 2015 list. Stormzy’s debut album, Gang Signs and Prayer, made history as the first grime album to top the UK Albums Chart and later won British Album of the Year at the Brit Awards. In 2019, he scored his first UK number-one single with "Vossi Bop" and became the first British rapper to headline Glastonbury Festival, making headlines with a striking Banksy-designed vest. He followed with the albums Heavy Is the Head in 2019 and This Is What I Mean in 2022, further establishing himself as a leading figure in British music.
