Joel Thomas Zimmerman, professionally known as deadmau5, is a Canadian electronic music producer and DJ recognized for his innovative progressive and electro house tracks, as well as his unique helmeted stage persona. Rising to prominence with his 2008 album Random Album Title, which included hits like Faxing Berlin and I Remember with Kaskade, deadmau5 has since become one of the most influential figures in electronic music.
He has received multiple Grammy nominations and won four Juno Awards. Zimmerman is known for collaborations with artists such as Wolfgang Gartner, Rob Swire, and Chris Lake. He has also worked with Steve Duda in the duo BSOD and co-founded groups like Kx5 with Kaskade and Rezzmau5 with Rezz. In addition to his main work, he releases techno under the alias Testpilot.
deadmau5 launched his Mau5trap label in 2007, and his acclaimed albums include For Lack of a Better Name, 4x4 equals 12, Album Title Goes Here, and While 1 is less than 2.
