Simply Red is an English pop and soul band formed in Manchester in 1985 and led by singer and songwriter Mick Hucknall. Known for their smooth blend of pop and soul, the band achieved major chart success with thirteen studio albums, all reaching the top ten in the UK. Albums like A New Flame, Stars, Life, Blue, and their Greatest Hits topped the UK charts, with Stars becoming one of the country's best-selling albums. Simply Red scored ten UK top ten singles including Fairground, Stars, Sunrise, Angel, and The Air That I Breathe, and reached number one on the US charts with Holding Back the Years and If You Don't Know Me by Now. The group won Best British Group at the Brit Awards in 1992 and 1993 and earned three Grammy nominations. After disbanding in 2010, they re-formed in 2015. With over 50 million albums sold worldwide, Simply Red remain one of the UK’s most successful bands.
